Pep Guardiola and Manchester City will lose Ederson for the rest of the season after the collision the Brazilian keeper had in the Tottenham vs Man City game a few days ago. The Brazilian keeper was subbed off by Guardiola as a precaution, and it turned out to be the best decision since he would not be safe to play the last two games of the season. The club has been interested in signing a new keeper this summer, and one of their targets is Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez. Man City may now consider bringing the Argentine keeper this summer if their backup keeper Stefan Ortega will likely leave this summer and Ederson continues with unlucky injuries.

Manchester City has relied on Stefan Ortega more this season as Ederson had to come off the pitch for injuries this season. Man City only has two more games left this season, which is against West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend on Championship Sunday and then in the FA Cup Final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium next weekend. Meanwhile, for Brazil, there are concerns that Ederson won’t make it in time for Copa America. No information about his injury endangering his participation in the Copa America has been released, but some expect him to still travel with the Brazilian national team in the United States.

Dibu Martinez has a contract with Aston Villa until the summer of 2026. The Argentine keeper has a market value of over $30 million, which seems reasonable for Man City since he is one of the best keepers in the Premier League. Martinez has made a total of 47 appearances this season for Aston Villa, which includes the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Europa Conference League. Martinez conceded 61 goals and kept 15 clean sheets this season so far and has led Aston Villa to 4th in the Premier League, which gives them an automatic ticket to the Champions League next season.

Martinez’s last game with Aston Villa?

Emiliano Martinez and Aston Villa have already qualified for the Champions League next season after Spurs lost 2-0 against Manchester City this week. Aston Villa’s last match of the season is against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this Sunday. Villa is on 68 points after 37 games played this season, and they could end with 71 points if they win the final game and remain in 4th place, which is a huge improvement compared to last season, where they finished 7th with 61 points.
