One of the keys of Cruz Azul's defeat against Rayados de Monterrey was the lack of aggressiveness of the team from the Mexican capital on the midfield. That problem could have been solved with the presence of an experienced player like Rafael Baca, but the coach decided not to use him no matter how much he was needed.
La Maquina Cementera committed many mistakes on the midfield and could have count on Rafael Baca, who recently recovered after testing positive for Covid-19. He's already full recovered and in his best physical shape. Baca has not returned to started line up and not even came to the field from the bench, something that worries and causes discomfort in the fans.
But the reality is that the player is not considered by coach Robert Dante Siboldi not exactly for a soccer or a physical reason. It is believed that this would be the last games for Baca in Cruz Azul since his contract expires in December and, although the player wants to renew, the new executives does not have the same plans.
The intention of the new executives is that the current players accept a significant reduction in salary for the next season, and that's the reason for Rafael Baca's absence. The new board has asked Siboldi to help the pressuring some players to accept a pay cut. But other reality is that Cruz Azul cannot afford play without a player like Baca, taking into account that there is a week left to end the regular season of the Liga MB.
