Matías Almeyda has done it once again. The Argentine head coach has stolen from Chivas a player that he knew well due to his time at the club and that thinks that will be useful for him. The trainer recommended the signing of the offensive midfielder to San Jose Earthquakes MLS side and sport advisers accepted.
We are talking about Javier Eduardo López, known as Chofis. It is now reported that the player aged 26 will join Almeyda at San Jose Earthquakes. The midfielder was not being in consideration at the Rebaño Sagrado, after committing some undisciplined acts, and the MLS rescued him.
Coach Víctor Vucetich and sport adviser Ricardo Peláez considered that he was no longer needed at Chivas and put him in the transferable list. With an actual reported value of $1.5 million, it hasn’t been yet informed on how much and when the transfer will be closed, even though sport journalist David Medrano Felix assures its already accorded.
Chofis was a player on whom Chivas deposited a lot of faith. When he was young it was usual for him to be compared with Messi, as many said that he could be the successor of the idol. After 185 matches for the first team, his time at the Liga MX side has ended, and he will now be playing under Almeyda’s mandate once again.
