Beckham wants to make the dream partnership of Cristiano and Messi happen, the step he would've taken with CR7 to do it

David Beckham had an opportunity a few years ago to make the Messi and Ronaldo partnership happen.

David Beckham smiles and gives a thumbs up while Cristiano Ronaldo is confused and Lionel Messi yells.

David Beckham and Inter Miami completed the dream of signing Lionel Messi last summer, but an even bigger dream is Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's partnership on the same team. With rumors circulating of a departure from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, CR7 has been linked to a move to Inter Miami to play next to Messi. Beckham has reportedly been very close to making that happen, as he almost signed CR7 before Messi last year. AS reported that Ronaldo was close to a move to Inter Miami before the 2023 MLS season. CR7 was also linked to a move to Chelsea, but in the end, Al Nassr managed to sign him ahead of other clubs.

Despite the interest a couple of years ago, Inter Miami is still showing interest in Ronaldo, but it would be complicated. Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr expires in the summer of 2025, and Inter Miami may want to sign him for free so they could link him up with Messi as a striker duo. Many football fans would be watching them as the two greatest players of all time, but now, this time as teammates instead of rivals.

Some fans believe that Ronaldo was Beckham's favorite choice to bring to Inter Miami. In an interview before Inter Miami played a game, he was asked which player he would like to bring to the club. Beckham praised Ronaldo and mentioned that Messi has played at one club for the majority of his career. Beckham said, "I don’t know, we all know that Cristiano Ronaldo has an incredible career, that he has succeeded everywhere… Leo Messi is a player from only one club, so…”

Cristiano Ronaldo's market value now

Ronaldo's highest market value was around $120 million during his time at Real Madrid, but his value now at Al Nassr is around $16 million. If Inter Miami were to sign CR7 this summer, they would need to offer Al Nassr near the $16 million mark. Inter Miami will possibly wait to sign him for free next year or this summer if CR7 terminates his contract with Al Nassr.
